This Summer's Going to Be a Hot One (「今年の夏は、暑いから。」 'Kotoshi no natsu wa, atsui kara.'?) is the sixth episode of the Horimiya anime.
Synopsis[]
Miyamura ends up staying the night at Hori's. Someone sees them going out from the same house and so rumors start spreading around school. It's a difficult situation and Miyamura reacts in an unexpected way.
Summary[]
News about Hori and Miyamura dating starts spreading in school after two students discover the two walking out of Hori's house that morning. Most of the students disapprove of the two's relationship and badmouths them, which infuriates Toru deeply. Concerned about how his reputation is affecting hers, Miyamura decides to cut his hair and stop wearing glasses, catching the class' attention.
Miyamura's new look then gains some brief popularity from the girls (who were badmouthing him the day before) as they ask him about his new appearance, much to Hori's jealousy. Later, Miyamura and Hori visit Shindo who becomes emotional after discovering Miyamura's new appearance. The three then have some candy Shindo won from a contest which mostly consists of odd flavours after Chika took the normal ones. Miyamura then has Shindo eat the cheese flavoured candy while Hori tries the clay flavoured candy. Suddenly, Miyamura kisses Hori and takes the candy out of her mouth, taking her by surprise as she tells Shindo that Miyamura "stole her candy". As Miyamura gets some water from the fridge, he comments on how bitter the clay candy tastes.
The next day, a student asks Hori about her relationship with Miyamura to which she firmly confirms. After receiving the answer, the student then starts following Miyamura and when confronted, she asks when they are going to break up, prompting a blunt "never" from Miyamura. The student introduces herself as Honoka Sawada and vows to return before running off. Later, Hori and Miyamura are followed by Sawada who then reveals she has a crush on Hori. A tug-of-war for Hori between Sawada and Miyamura ensues before Miyamura successfully grabs Hori and takes her away to class.
After school, Miyamura and Sawada find themselves going on the same path to their apartment before discovering they're both neighbours, much to their dismay. However, Sawada forgot her keys and stays in Miyamura's unit for the time being. The two converse over some cake Miyamura kept. Sawada asks if Miyamura has siblings after noticing how he's good at taking care of people before telling him she had a brother. However, she claims its a joke and leaves. Shortly that afternoon, Miyamura's mother tells him that Sawada did indeed had a brother who died a year ago.
The next day as Miyamura and Sawada wait for Hori, Sawada finds herself confronted by some boys from their school. Miyamura notices the boys and with just a glare, the boys decide to leave although Miyamura was thinking of what to say to them. The two then go back to talking about Hori, competing over their affections for her before Hori finally shows up.
That night, Hori, Miyamura and Kyousuke watch a horror movie. After Kyousuke leaves the room to buy cigarettes after being scared, Hori then asks Miyamura to make a move on her and the two become flustered. Miyamura then leans over to Hori and just as they were about to kiss, Kyousuke enters the room after forgetting his wallet much to Hori's annoyance. She plans for the group to marathon all three horror movies without bathroom breaks, resulting in Kyousuke shrieking in horror.
